XMAS LIGHTS SWITCH-ON

We hope to see you at the Xmas Lights Switch-on Event on Friday 26 November in Hedon. The event will run from 5pm to 8pm with the actual switching on of the lights at 6.30pm. Although this year we have a pared back event, without the annual craft market stalls, we do have the stage with entertainment, children's fairground rides and Holderness Lions will be bringing Santa and his sleigh. YORKSHIRE ENERGY PARK - PUBLIC DROP IN EVENTS

Members of the public are being invited to see more detailed plans for the Yorkshire Energy Park site ahead of planning submissions in December. The two events will take place at 4pm - 7pm on Wednesday 24 November in St Augustine's Church Hall, Church Lane, Hedon and from 4pm - 7pm on Thursday 25 November in Eastside Community Sports Trust, Staithes Road, Preston. REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY - 14 NOVEMBER 2021

The Remembrance Sunday Parade will set off from the Market Place, Hedon at 10.40am and proceed to St Augustine's Church for a Remembrance Day Service. The Parade will then reform and proceed to The Cenotaph in the Cemetery for the Wreath Laying Ceremony. The Parade will then return to the Market Place for the Salute to be taken by a Deputy Lieutenant of the East Riding of Yorkshire and the Town Mayor. Read More...

It is with regret that the Town Council received the resignation of Cllr Carl Minns, due to health reasons. A bye-election to fill the vacancy will be held if, by Thursday 2 September 2021, 10 electors for the town give notice in writing to the Chief Executive of the East Riding of Yorkshire Council at County Hall, Beverley, HU17 9BA claiming such an election. PARLIAMENTARY BOUNDARIES CONSULTATION

Hedon Town Council has replied to the Boundaries Commission proposals and you can see the reply by clicking on the link agove. The Boundaries Commission's current proposal would see South West Holderness added to Hull East; but you can have your say by going to the Boundary Commission for England website to register your views on the 2023 review. NEW MARKET DAY BUS SERVICE

From 14 July Hedon will be served by a new Wednesday bus service, number 84. It will run a circuit of the whole town from 10.55am to 11.23am and to a return run from 1.40pm to 2.08pm. It will be free for those with bus passes and just £1 for other users, and you can hail it anywhere to hop on and hop off. The service is funded by East Riding of Yorkshire Council for six months; but, if it proves popular, the Town Council will look to take it on as a permanent service for residents. Copies of the timetable can be picked up from the Town Hall and various shops around the town. END OF REMOTE ACCESS MEETING

From midnight on 6 May 2021 the legislation allowing Town Councils to meet by remote access comes to an end. Therefore, Council/Committee meetings have to be held as physical meetings. Whilst social distancing is still in force, the Council Chamber in the Town Hall can hold no more than 25 people. The Town Council has therefore decided to hold its meetings in St Augustine's Church until social distancing restrictions are lifted. All Council/Committee meetings are open to the public - you will need to sign in to 'track and trace', use hand sanitiser and wear masks if attending. Thank you for your cooperation. Read More...

COMPETITION: BEST DRESSED HOUSE On behalf of Hedon's VE Group, thanks to everyone who entered their house in the competition. Aside from the excellent entries, many people also made the effort to mark the day by just hanging out a flag or some bunting. It meant that, if you were out for your daily exercise, you couldn't miss the fact that the whole town was celebrating 75 years of peace. Although the three day programme of entertainment planned had to be cancelled, the effort of everyone who decorated their houses and gardens meant that it was still a special day.
