East Riding of Yorkshire Council agrees initial cost-of-living support measures

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has today agreed an initial number of cost-of-living support measures as part of the Help for Households campaign. Utilising the council's cost-of-living reserve, the recommendations agreed at cabinet include: £200,000 to install cavity wall and roof insulation for up to 1,000 homes. £100,000 to support the voluntary and community sector, help ensure its sustainability, develop new initiatives for social cohesion, health and wellbeing activities. £200,000 financial support for the East Riding Food Poverty Alliance (ERFPA) and local foodbanks. Proclamation of Accension

Sunday 11 September 4pm - Market Hill, Hedon The Mayor of Hedon, Councillor David Thompson will read out the Proclamation (on Market Hill, Hedon) and the Mace Bearer Mr John Dawson, will draw attention to the announcement just before 4pm in his customary manner. Any member of the public is invited to attend the event and join councillors and council colleagues in observing the Proclamation. In line with the national Proclamation Day, the flag will be raised to full height at 11am on Saturday 10 September and will be returned to half-mast at 1pm, Sunday 11 September, where it will remain up to and including the day of the funeral of Her Majesty. It is with great sadness that Hedon Town council and the people of Hedon have learned of the passing of our Sovereign, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. We join the Nation in extending our heartfelt sympathies to His Majesty Charles III and all members of the Royal family at this difficult time. Our thoughts are with them. Events are being held in Hedon to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee: beginning with Lighting the Beacon on Thursday 2 June; Carnival Parade and Hedfest on Friday 3 June, a Celebration Concert in St Augustine's Church on Saturday 4 June and finishing with a Civic Parade and Service of Celebration in St Augustine's Church on Sunday 5 June. ANNUAL TOWN MEETING

The Annual Town Meeting will be held in the Town Hall, St Augustine's Gate, Hedon at 7.15pm on Thursday 5 May 2022. Annual reports will be given by the Mayor and Committee Chairmen. There will then be an opportunity for electors of Hedon to ask questions on matters relating to the business of the town. If you wish to ask a question it must be received by the Town Clerk (in writing or by e-mail) by 5pm on Wednesday 4 May 2022.
