Mayormaking Ceremony -Penny Throwing  20th May 2010

The new Mayor, Cllr Mrs.B Goldspink, will carry out the ancient tradition of 'Penny Throwing' from the Town Hall steps to local children. This takes place every year after the Annual Meeting of Hedon Town Council.

Yorkshire Day Celebrations in Hedon
- Sunday 1st August 2010

 

Hedon Town Council will be hosting Yorkshire Day celebrations when civic guests from the whole of Yorkshire will be coming to Hedon for a parade at 10.15am from the Market Place followed by a Church service at St.Augustine's Church, Hedon at 11.00am. The Bishop of Hull will be in attendance to officiate.

Evening celebrations will commence at 6.00pm on Market Hill. The Dixieland Jazz Band will be providing entertainment throughout the evening and there will also be stalls and other entertainment available.   

A hog roast will also be available from approx.7.30pm and the beacon will be lit at 9.15pm. Following this, a firework display will be held in Ivy Lane, Hedon.

This is a really prestigious event and the first time it has been held in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

Come along and celebrate all things Yorkshire !!!


Remembrance Sunday 2006Remembrance Sunday -  14th November 2010

The Royal British Legion will be parading from the Market Place, Hedon on the above date at 10.40 am to a service at St Augustine's Church, Hedon at 11.00 am.  Following the service, an Act of Remembrance will take place at the Cenotaph at Hedon Town Cemetery.


Christmas Lights Switch On
- Friday 26th November 2010

Christmas LightsLights switched on at 6.30pm in the Market Place by the Mayor of Hedon,

KCFM Radio will be broadcasting live from the Market Place from 6.00pm onwards. Carol singing around the Christmas Tree from 6.30pm onwards.

Various Christmas gifts, craft stalls, tombola, children's rides, Father Christmas in the Town Hall.

Many shops will be open for trade during the event and the Alexandra Hall will be open for refreshments.

The Town Centre streets are closed for the event, between the hours of 5.00pm and 9.30pm.

Car parking is available at the Iveson Close Car Park, Johnsons Corner Car Park, Market Hill and surrounding on-street parking.

This is always a very busy and successful night, so come along and enjoy a traditional Christmas event in Hedon.
